Privacy Policy

Last updated October 7, 2026

This policy explains how [Company legal name] (“HomeOwnio,” “we”) handles personal information on homeown.io, on community portals hosted by HomeOwnio (such as yourhoa.homeown.io or an HOA's own domain), and in related services.

Who is responsible for your information

When you use a community portal, your homeowners association (“HOA”) decides what information is collected about residents and who in the community can see it. HomeOwnio provides and operates the service on the HOA's behalf. For questions about your community's records (for example, the directory or meeting minutes), contact your HOA board. For questions about this policy or our website, contact us at [privacy contact email].

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number (optional), street address within your community, and role.
  • Community content: posts, comments, messages, documents, photos, events and other content you or your HOA add.
  • Dues and payments: charges, payment amounts, dates and methods recorded by your HOA. Card or bank details for online payments are collected by our payment processor, not stored by HomeOwnio.
  • Demo requests: the name, contact details and HOA information you submit on homeown.io.
  • Technical information: sign-in records, IP address, browser type and similar data needed to keep the service secure and working.

How we use it

  • To provide the service your HOA has set up, including sign-in, the directory, messages and documents.
  • To send service emails such as sign-in links and notices your HOA chooses to send.
  • To secure the service, prevent abuse and keep audit records of sensitive actions.
  • To respond to demo requests and support questions.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use community content for advertising.

Who can see it

  • Your community: other members see only what your HOA's settings allow. Directory listings are opt-in, and board-only and admin-only items are hidden from residents.
  • Service providers who host and run HomeOwnio for us, under contracts that limit their use of the data: [list providers, e.g. database and file hosting, website hosting, email delivery, payment processing].
  • Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of people or the service.

How long we keep it

We keep community information for as long as your HOA uses HomeOwnio, then delete or return it as agreed with the HOA. Some records, such as payment and audit records, may be kept longer where needed for legal, tax or security reasons. [Retention periods to be confirmed.]

Security

Information is encrypted in transit, each community's data is separated at the database level, and file downloads require a permission check. No system is perfectly secure; tell us right away at [security contact email] if you suspect a problem.

Your choices and rights

You can update your name, phone number and directory listing from your account page. To access, correct or delete other information, contact your HOA board or us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. [State-specific disclosures to be confirmed.]

Children

HomeOwnio is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

We will post updates here and change the date above. If changes are significant, we will notify HOA administrators.
